Biography

myrna-picProfessor Myrna Simpson holds a BSc in Chemistry and Mathematical Sciences and a PhD in Environmental Soil Chemistry.  She joined the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences in 2002 after a 2.5 year postdoctoral fellowship in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry at the Ohio State University.

Research Statement

Professor Myrna Simpson is a leading expert who studies ecosystem health using novel, molecular-level tools.  Her research focuses anthropogenic stress impacts on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem health.  She currently serves as the Associate Director of the Environmental NMR Centre which is the only NMR facility in Canada dedicated to environmental research.
