My co-op journey has taken many different turns since my first year at UTSC. The “dream placement” has had many different manifestations, but the journey only really starts for me in a few weeks when I depart for Georgetown, Guyana with the help of the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Scholarship. In Georgetown I will be working with Volunteer Youth Corps, a partner of Cuso International. With VYC I will be trying to turn some of my knowledge on student leadership into programming to help youth access employment opportunities. It’s going to be an exciting venture getting to work with young people and understand the challenges and opportunities they experience and I am greatly looking forward to diving into this work and the thesis research that will accompany it!
