Health and disease in urban populations, especially Gibraltar; reconstructing health and demographic history of 19th century populations. He has a recent paper on the Societal and Ecological Determinants of Urban Health in 19th century Gibraltar IN Social Science and Medicine and several other papers on historical demographics in journals such as the American Anthropologist, and the Journal of Family History.
