A special 50th Anniversary Pub at Miller Lash House on Thursday, July 17 brought friends, staff, faculty and retirees who came together from near and far to toast the campus’ milestone. Corneliu Chisu, MP Pickering-Scarborough East, joined the celebration, bringing a letter from the Government of Canada offering formal congratulations along with his best wishes to the University.
Guests enjoyed a beautiful summer evening on the lush grounds of the Miller Lash House, along with birthday cake, entertainment by Phoxy Music and a trivia game hosted by UTSC’s own Vice-Principal Research Professor Malcolm Campbell.
Did you know in 1944 a heated outdoor swimming pool was constructed at the Miller Lash House and has since been filled in? Interestingly, you can still see its outline on the property. In 1963, the University purchased 202 acres of the original property and now owns and operates the Miller Lash House, a beautiful Arts and Crafts style estate.
