Staff Collaborations

The Academic Advising & Career Centre (AA&CC) is UTSC’s central academic and career advising department. Our aim is to connect and collaborate with departments to support students development of skills and experience. To request a presentation or collaboration, please complete the request form at least 3-4 weeks before the event.

Examples of Previous Collaborations with Staff

Promoting academic success and emotional well-being: We collaborated with the Health & Wellness Centre and invited them to teach relaxation exercises to our students during our Exam Preparation workshop. The shared programming was well received by students. This collaboration aligned well with our holistic approach to supporting student development and success.

International Student Employment Support: Our staff collaborated with the International Student Centre to provide employment supports to international students. We created tailor-made workshops for international student groups, which covered topics on resume writing, the job application process and workers' rights. To date, we have worked with over 80 students in these workshops.

Peer Program Working Group (PPWG): The PPWG includes staff representatives from the Academic Advising & Career Centre (AA&CC), AccessAbility Services, Arts & Events Planning, Athletics & Recreation, Department of Student Life, Health & Wellness, International Student Centre, Library Services, Student Housing & Residence Life and the Sustainability Office. Together we deliver Student Leadership Training for all first time peer volunteers in these departments to prepare them for their peer leadership roles. Topics include community building, diversity training, inclusive environments and communication styles.

Testimonials from UTSC Staff

"It has been my pleasure to collaborate with the staff at the Academic Advising & Career Centre. In my role as a personal counsellor, it has been extremely helpful to know that I can count on the care and expertise of all staff members when questions and concerns arise. The Health & Wellness Counselling Team also worked closely with a number of AA&CC staff in facilitating a workshop for students. The AA&CC staff members were knowledgeable, enthusiastic team players who were in tune with the needs of the student population." - Erin Bradford, Personal Counsellor, Health & Wellness Centre
