Degree & Program Planning FAQ

  1. Which calendar could I follow for my program requirements?
    To understand which program requirement you could follow, you need to figure out when you added your programs on Degree explorer.
    For Arts & Science students, if you added your programs before the summer 2013 session, you could complete any program requirements since the year you started your degree at UTSC. If you added your program since Summer 2013, you could follow the program requirements from the year in which you added your program or any subsequent calendars.
    For BBA students, if you added your Management/Economics specialist before the summer 2013 session, you could complete any program requirements since the year you started your degree at UTSC. If you added your Management/Economics specialist since Summer 2013, you could follow the program requirements from the year in which you were initially added into the Management/Economics specialist even if you switch into another type of specialist program within the BBA.
  2. I want to follow the calendar for my program that is different from the one indicated on Degree Explorer. What do I do?
    Send an email to the Registrar’s office by logging into Degree Explorer and clicking on the ‘Contact Us’ button.
  3. I’m completing 2 majors. Could I follow program requirements from two different calendars?
    Yes you can.
  4. Which calendar do I follow for my degree requirements?
    Degree requirements may change from year to year. You can follow the degree requirements list in the calendar from the year you started degree at UTSC.
    To find out when you started your degree, log into Degree Explorer and look under the Degree program of study start session.
  5. Do I need to complete breadth requirements?
    That depends on which year you started your degree. Students who started their degree in 2010 onwards need to complete breadth requirements as part of their degree requirements.  Log into Degree Explorer and find out when you started your degree. Then, look for the calendar from the year you started from the list of archived calendar and find your degree requirements.
  6. What is the depth (C/D) requirement?
    Students who started their degree in 2010 onwards are required to complete at least 6 credits at the C/D level of which 1 credit must be at the D level.
  7. Am I limited to completing only 6.0 credits at the A-level?
    No, this is one of the degree requirements for the St. George Arts & Science students. You are responsible for completing the UTSC degree requirement from the year you started your degree.
  8. There are some discrepancies between the calendar requirements and Degree explorer. What do I do?
    Degree Explorer is a useful tool which is an automated system. If Degree Explorer is not using the courses that you wish to use toward a particular requirement, you should try to use the program checklist to manually check your requirements. If there is any discrepancy between Degree Explorer and the calendar, you are responsible for following the calendar program and degree requirements.
