What factors contributed to you choosing your program(s)?

I choose Literature and Film Studies because trying to analyze different stories and films is endlessly fun for me. Being able to actually study what I was already extremely passionate about allowed me to have both a fun and stimulating idea of school.

What tips/advice can you provide to students just starting or considering this program(s)?

  1. Do something you love. If you’re passionate about literature and film, the program is fantastic. Make sure you put in the work, but still enjoy the classes.
  2. Talk to your professors and be a social person. Make connections with people who have the same passions as you.

What will you do with your degree after graduation? (Future plans?)

After graduating, I hope to become a full-time filmmaker or perhaps work with directing and creating advertisements. I also want to publish my own poetry book one day.

What has your academic journey during your time been like as you progress toward graduation?

I came into first year studying something I had lost my love for. My grades suffered because I simply had no more enjoyment for learning. After finding out I could study film, I immediately joined the program. I started enjoying writing essays for the first time in my life, I doubled my GPA, and everything got easier because I was actually happy with my classes. I went from academic probation to finally being confident about the idea of actually graduating.
