Keeping your UTSC connection
Whether you’re about to graduate, you’ve just graduated, or you’re advanced in your career, the Academic Advising & Career Centre offers many valuable opportunities for UTSC alumni.
- Graduating students, you have full access to services as current students, and can often begin to access our services targeted to new grads once you are getting close to graduation.
- New grads can take advantage of our ongoing support programs for up to two years to help kickstart a career in any field.
- Experienced alumni at all career stages can share expertise and raise their own professional profiles.
UTSC also offers a number of exciting social and professional events throughout the year through our Alumni Relations office. It’s a great way to stay connected to the UTSC community and our large network of skilled alumni.
Finding the perfect job can be exciting as well as daunting. Let us help. As a UTSC graduate, you can access the AA&CC’s career and employment services for up to two years after graduation, including:
Jobs for Grads Employment Service: Exclusive access to full-time job listings, workshops, and employer events on campus.
Community Resources: Government-funded services you may wish to use include:
· Job Fairs and Job Postings
· 1:1 and Workshop Job Search Strategizing
· Incentives for Employers to Hire You (if eligible)
Career & Employment Workshops: Explore topics from personality types to networking.
Fairs: Fairs focused on volunteer and career opportunities are held throughout the year.
Career & Industry Panels: Learn from a panel of four to six employers and alumni answering career-related questions.
Information Sessions: A great chance to network, learn about organizations and talk to recruiters about your qualifications.
Networking Events: Expand your connections and develop your networking skills.
Share your valuable career experience by participating in one of our many programs designed to support and encourage students with their career exploration. All you need to contribute is your time, knowledge and enthusiasm!
Career and Industry Panels
Raise your profile. As a speaker on one of our career and industry panels, you can share your industry knowledge, profile your organization, and influence future career decisions.
Tell your story. Inspire students by describing your career path and answering one of their most common questions: “What can I do with my degree?”.
Create awareness. 30 minutes can open a student’s eyes to career possibilities they might never have considered. Chat with students in person or on the phone to answer career questions and help them learn about your work.
Share your expertise. Open your doors and let students discover your work environment first-hand. Placements can take place every November, February and May and last 1 to 5 days. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with students, profile your company and enhance your coaching and facilitation skills.
Be a mentor. Mentor a senior student during the academic year to provide guidance and feedback based on your experience. Mentors also benefit from access to practical development opportunities and programming at UTSC.
