The Doris McCarthy Gallery, the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences, and the Office of Sustainability have collaborated to offer artistic, scientific, and environmentalist perspectives on Canada’s north, climate change, and positive response.

AHAE - U of T Exchange
July 7 – September 6, 2016
The University of Toronto's Master of Visual Studies students were invited to submit a proposal for an exhibition and exchange project between the University of Toronto (MVS and the Doris McCarthy Gallery), and the University of the Basque Country (Paraninfo UPV/EHU) in Bilbao, Spain. 

The winning submission from U of T is Fraser McCallum’s Three Students and Teacher and from University of Basque Country is José Luis Ochoa’s Verloren, del alemán “perdido”, which is currently on display in the DMG Vitrines. At the end of the exhibition period the students on either side of the Atlantic will retain one another's work.

UTSC Writers-in-Residence
July 7 – September 6, 2016
The Doris McCarthy Gallery invited Nino Ricci and Helen Humphreys, UTSC’s Fall and Winter 2015 Writers-in-Residence, to peruse the UTSC Permanent Art
Collection and identify a work of art that most inspired them. Ricci selected Reckoning by Ed Pien and Humphreys selected Microbes Swabbed From a Palette Used by Tom Thomson by Jon Sasaki. The two pieces of writing and corresponding texts are currently on display in the DMG Vitrines.
